I was a bit skeptical to eat here due to the exterior, but when we drove by my mom got really excited and said "H. Salt! I grew up eating there!" and immediately pulled into the parking lot. I am a huge fan of fish and chips and have had it at various pubs and restaurants around England. H. Salt made the BEST fish and chips I have ever had!! The fish did not taste fishy, it was freshly fried (unlike pubs in England that fry the fish then freeze what's leftover then re-heat it), and the pieces were huge! Don't even get me started on the coleslaw... WOW. And the tartar sauce... double wow! Next time I am going to try the fried bananas and a few of the other menu options.
There was only one very nice lady working there when we went. It was getting rather busy at dinner time, but major props to her for managing everything while still making delicious food!
This goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover (or Yelp star rating) :) -

First time here, food's not bad, the fish and shrimp were alright, the fries were just ok. They don't season their food so you can lay on the salt yourself which is cool.
The Asian lady running the front is nice, but her tone of voice can be direct and offputting. She refused service to a couple of nice people when they took her tone the wrong way.
I wouldn't come back but it was worth a try for something different. -

My first time ever stepping into this place, the hospitality was wonderful and also the food was amazing! I really enjoyed my visit here and will be coming back again soon. Phenomenal staff, service, and good food.
They also have Fried Oreos! -

Took nearly 2 hours to receive our GrubHub order. We contacted the restaurant and were told that the order had been picked up. We later contacted GrubHub and were told that the customer service rep spoke with the restaurant and they will be making a fresh order for re-delivery. Our food FINALLY arrived - stone cold. I have a feeling it was sitting on their counter for two hours before finally being delivered. All that trouble for over-fried catfish and under-fried french fries. Was really excited to try this place but what a terrible and disappointing experience.

The lady owner yelled at me when I arrived for ordering through Grubhub. She said they take 30%. I gave a 20% tip that I could not take back so I guess it's even??? When I called back she was yelling at the fish cook for a minute before she even said hello. The food was all burnt, the five clams I got where burnt and the catfish was burnt (see picture) I thought it was chicken at first but it was just burnt. My name is not Susan. She was asking me how much Glen paid me, I think she thought I was a delivery person. She was so rude. Never eating there again.
